1-4 Time Marches On

Our last chapter left our little family looking forward to some birthdays. Andy, being the oldest, goes first. We didn't get far on his child aspiration and he was one day short of getting an A. We had the extra-credit done and everything else covered, the bar was right there, but no go. Timing was just not on our side. As for his child aspiration I couldn't get an adult to read to a child. Clicking on the book didn't bring up the option, I think it must have been a glitch, because the next time I was in game it worked just fine. Though the parent did seem to get stuck in the motion and not actually read it seemed to count.

So the whole birthday thing seems to be kind of random on the times. Poor Pace came home from work early and aged up before we could get him to his cake. He had the sad moodlet due to everyone missing his birthday. Dahlia did her best to cheer him up, and decided she had to bake Andy a cake. Worried that he too would come home early on the last day and miss his party, they celebrated before school that day.
Being new to the whole birthday cake, celebrate, age up thing. Andy tasted the frosting and that was all it took to age up :( I didn't get to see him blow out the candles and make a wish.!

Now to see what his new trait will be and his Adult Aspiration. *drum roll please*

Self-Assured, well that's cool, that makes him the heir since my rules follow the exemplar trait and in the event of a tie the slot goes to first born. So Andy what do you aspire to be?

Master Mixologist, What? are you kidding me? Here I was hoping for a bit higher of an aspiration :( What do you think of your future Andy?

That face! It says it all, and I couldn't agree more, sigh, oh well we make the best of it. Now to get you through High School!

Brea, Being the rambunctious scamp that she was needed to log 10 hours on the computer playing games. She was just about to master the game when the computer crashed.
Pace quickly set things right and she was soon back to completing her next milestone in her child aspiration.

You were amazing dad! Thanks so much for fixing the computer for me. I need to finish my typing for class.

It's what I do, just remember when you get a popup about an update, let mum or I make sure it's legit.

Meanwhile Andy is trying to recapture the muscles he had when he aged to teen. All that hanging about on the monkey bars had him looking pretty cut, now the pudge is setting in.
Andy you hit like a girl! Your not pounding the punching bag into the ground, extend your arm from the shoulder, don't swing wild like that! Shuddup it's hard to see it's so dark out here. Um, that would be the shades. pffft.
Ya know son, this is the life. Hanging out at home after work with a nice drink to unwind. Ah the golden years can't get much better than this! I could get used to this. What made you think about mixology? I didn't really have a choice pop, it was just the way things rolled.

Dahlia went looking for new plants for her garden. She came upon this weird tree and after careful inspection she found a small door. Wow, this can't be real! Should I check it out? Sure, go for it. I'll help direct you through, just let me know if the path changes.
After walking for what seemed like hours, she found the end of the tunnel and stepped through a tree, just like the one in town, into a beautiful secluded glade. The light filtering through gave everything a pink hue. She stood forever drinking it all in. This is amazing!

But not all of it was beautiful, as she wandered through the hair on her neck stood up. I feel like I'm being watched, and I don't mean you. There is something evil lurking here, I can feel it. In the mist we could see the sinister glowing red eyes

She tried her hand at fishing but didn't have any luck, she found a frog or two, but none of the plants were ready to be harvested, and she hasn't yet learned how to take a cutting. Hopefully she can come back again to explore a bit more. Tired and needing to pee, she slipped back through the tree and headed home.
Soon it was time for Brea to age up. Her birthday fell on a weekend so again despite completing all she needed for her A the timing was just not in our favor. She completed all but one goal of her third stage of her aspiration. We really did push to get it completed, but I didn't want her to miss her birthday. Um Brea, whatcha wearing? It's a cow hat, and it makes me feel smexy! Er....ok, well we will see how long this lasts. Brea's teen trait is Bro, sigh, and Adult Aspiration, wow lets mix it up kids, she wants to be a Master Chef. Oh goody, the cooking career for them both!

Pace, what er you.....NO Pace, no don't lie down, get up! 107 days is way too young! I'm not ready for you to go, we were almost there on your aspy and your career! Grimm you heartless devil you! No one is home, they will never even know he's gone!

I'm so tired, I can't take another step, just let me rest here a bit.

Dahlia came home just as Grimm was leaving in a puff of thick black smoke. He never got to see the kids graduate, or meet any of his grandchildren. There just wasn't enough for any life potions yet. In his old age he got meaner than any of the kids had ever seen before so their relationships were pretty low. Even his with Dahlia's, only Brea seemed to be sad about her fathers passing, thought it was only a few hours rather than a few days.
She headed to bed after finishing her homework to cry it out and fell asleep.
Dahlia watched over her for a few hours. Oh what are we going to do? We sure will miss his quirky personality, even if he was mean occasionally, he really loved these kids. Sniff I know, I wasn't ready for him to go either. I'll make a special place for him out back. We'll put a big Cherry tree there and some wildflowers.

Next chapter we will see how life without Pace will be fore our legacy family. Will anyone reach their aspiration goals? Will Dahlia be able to support the family with only one income or will the kids have to get jobs?

1.3 Just an Ordinary Family

Welcome back! In our last chapter we welcomed two new additions to our legacy, Andy and Brea.
Andy wasn't very thrilled with the new baby at first, but soon he was pretty thrilled with the idea of a live in playmate. With two adults, one nearing elder status, he was often wishing he had someone to share his toys with. Dahlia was enjoying taking care of the little one.
Pace too. He has been a great sim dad, napping near the baby to hear her if she started to fuss. Brea was a very easy baby to care for. She had a regular feeding schedule and was content to sleep in between.
Since Dahlia is the one most skilled in handiness, she doesn't wait long to fix the broken plumbing.
Stupid sink, not only did it back up and make the sink gross, the pipe is loose and water is spraying everywhere! I think your wrench might be too big Dahlia. I don't care I want it fixed, if tightening it won't do the trick I plan on smashing the thing into a million pieces!
Little Brea is up again and needing her bottle, so dad takes care of the babe while mum takes care of the plumbing. Due to their excellent parenting skills both children had very high relationships with their parents when they aged to child. You wouldn't even imagine that Pace has a mean bone in his body he was such an attentive father.

I tell ya I was really getting tired of seeing Pace's mismatched jammies everyday, but he said it was part of his cover so I wasn't allowed to change them. But since I rarely had to direct him to take care of the basics around the house I figured it was a minor thing to live with, and Dahlia didn't mind them so I guess I shouldn't either. Since he was up before everyone else today he decided to fix scrambled eggs. Um Pace, the eggs need to stay in the pan.Sure glad I don't have to eat with them!

We really need to upgrade the Fridge! I swear this thing breaks once a week! Dahlia is a trooper and never complains about the repairs and soon she will have enough skill and extra parts to begin upgrading thing around here.

Before we knew it little Brea was a child and Andy was thrilled. He finally had a friend to play chess with.
Brea was thrilled to be included, and sometimes she could get her hot-headed brother to loosen up and get his groove on. Brea is a Musical child with the rambunctious aspiration.

Well this is a switch, Pace fixing the stove, while Dahlia whips up a salad. Don't tell Pace, but I'm tired of eating gritty eggs, plus I told him to fix the mess he made from the last batch of eggs he cooked. He's digging out the burnt bits so the house doesn't stink or the stove catch fire the next time it's used.

Andy will be having a birthday soon, so he and Brea are spending their day simply goofing off and playing on the monkey bars. They are getting quite good. Andy was able to get his 4 skills up to level 4 thanks to his fun loving sister.

1-2 Two for Two

Dahlia and Pace spent each evening discussing the newest arrival. Here she is trying to get her programing skills up as well as log some game hours for her next promotion. (I really hate the white line around everything, makes it very difficult to get good shots!) Tolbor the My Sim figurine is a mood booster, I think playful. He will eventually find a shelf to sit on along with the rest of the My Sim figures.

Pace just asked her when the little one is due, evidently soon, Dahlia was in labor. I just got her mood up when she had to dash off to work.

Ya know Dahlia, I'm not sure that is appropriate attire for giving birth. I'm sooo tired of being fat and ugly, I'll wearing my prettiest unmentionables if I want to! Er.....ok but your going to scar that poor kid for life, not to mention me and the rest of our readers! (In hindsight adding in one sexy outfit probably wasn't a good idea, she wore her bathrobe on her wedding night....sims what ya gonna do? )

Pace slept through the whole thing, of course, way to be there for your gal dude. Though he makes up for it by letting her sleep while he takes care of the little one. Oh and the baby is a little boy, his name is Andy. I thought I had a few shots of Pace taking care of the wee babe but maybe not.

It seemed like no time at all and little Andy was celebrating his birthday. Pace couldn't get to the crib (or maybe the bed) and Dahlia was standing right where Andy landed when he leaped out of the bassinet. (The age up for babies is really odd after the cuteness that is TS2 and TS3)

Pace and Dahlia had been saving up to add on to the house and upgrade some of the furniture. Here Andy and Pace are chatting on the parents new bed. This is the new add on, The old room became the kids room. Andy has the hot-headed trait and the Whiz-Kid aspiration. I apologize in advance Andy, you are my first sim kid, I'm bound to make numerous mistakes that will impact your life.

Andy was pretty excited when mom told him the big secret about the new baby news. I had hoped that keeping him in the loop would ease the way for a new sibling without him going all emo on me.

Tonight is the birth of baby number two. Mom is resting through contractions, while dad gets his research done for his promotion. He's in the secret spy career and needs some research or hacking hours. The fancy desk was one of their promotions rewards, but I can't remember whos. I didn't even know it was a simple (but fancy looking) desk. With all the flashing lights on it I thought it actually did something. I could have told you it didn't do anything, but you never asked me. Well thank you for that Dahlia, you could have said something. Hey your the one that insisted on disabling the tutorial! oof I think this little one is ready to come now. So are we having a baby or a bassinet?

You are not.........funny........uh.......Breathe Dahlia, you're a pro at this. And in no time at all baby number two arrives.

Yellow onesie means it's a girl, her name is Brea, rhymes with bee.

Andy was not a bit happy about the new baby. You didn't tell me the new baby was going to live with us! I don't want to share my mom and dad with a baby. And certainly NOT a girl! Girls have cooties!

Sigh

Andy went to give himself a pep talk but was still feeling upset. His next wish was to insult a parent. So we unleashed him upon Pace, who has the mean trait and deserves a little razzing.

Your bunny slippers are weak old man, just like you are. Some spy hotshot you are. You can't even wear matching clothes! You aren't cool enough to be a spy! Pace was a good egg about the whole thing, he pretended to be insulted for a moment.

The bunny slippers and unmatched Pjs are part of my cover. If I was cool all the time people would talk! I can't afford to loose my cover. Secret missions are dangerous!

And so are goofy faces and baby talk, coochy coochy coo! Who's the cutest girl in the world?

And with that we leave our legacy family. I apologize for the terrible pictures, walls down, terrible lighting, not centered or focused, a photographer I am not and I'm still learning my way around the game. I get caught up playing and forget to set up a shot or capture a moment.

1-1 Building a Legacy is Exhausting

Do you HAVE to share my life with total strangers? And what about my house! This is not a house!

Yes, Yes I do. I can always find a different founder, I have two more to choose from....
Fine (sigh) just.... just don't embarrass me ok?
Yeah, no promises on that one sweety, everyone loves a good Rom-Com. You want a house then you need to work for it.
  Whatever! I need a drink!

She met a few sims in town. Pace Song started flirting right off.
  He's kinda cute
If you say so *shrugs*

She called him up Friday after work and they had a great first date. He agreed to be her boyfriend before the date ended.

The next day she was chatting with this gal and got hungry. I sent her home to grab some food and she brought it back to finish her conversation.
What? I really wanted to know what happened next!
A few more phone calls and another date, and Pace joins the household.
Yes, he has money! No more lawn living!
What? I enclosed the toilet after you got a job. And those things you collected brought in enough for the shower. We were on a roll baby! I just hoped you tell me what you wanted to buy.

So anyway, Dahlia and Pace hit it off really well. It wasn't until after he moved in that his mean streak came out. We already knew about bro, which nearly knocked him out of the running, but he doesn't act out often.
He was just tired, and you put the bed out on the lawn instead of building us a proper house! Besides, he sure knows how to apologize--in bed!

They soon had a proper house, with a bathroom and a bedroom, as well as a large living room-dinning-kitchen area. And would you look at this! The fridge is on the fritz.
Can you just replace it? I don't know anything about repairing a fridge! Uncloggin a toilet was hard enough.
Well a wrench is not the proper tool for unclogging a toilet, fixing a leaky pipe, but not a clog. Sorry you have to fix it.
And in no time at all our lovely Dahlia is expecting heir nominee #1

  Oh my back!
It's only the second trimester, believe me it gets worse!
How much worse? Oh I am so tired, why did you send me to the bathroom I wanted to go to b....thump.....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Sorry, you were the one that started the shower when the loo was the greater need! Poor Dahlia.

Stay tuned for Chapter Two, where we find out just how well Dahlia and Pace take to parenthood.
